Duties and Responsibilities:

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the state’s sales and marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, locating new markets for Georgia products, attracting tourists to Georgia, and promoting the state as a location for arts, film, and digital entertainment projects, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development.

Exclusive to Georgia, the Center of Innovation helps Georgia businesses of all types and sizes find inspired solutions to challenges and opportunities. The Center connects new and expanding businesses with a team of experts, external partners, and independent mentors to tap into the technical expertise and guidance they need. By encouraging collaboration across six key industries: Aerospace, AgTech, Energy Technology, Information Technology, Logistics, and Manufacturing, the Center helps Georgia prepare for growth in strategic industry ecosystems.

The mission of the Center of Innovation - Logistics (COI-L) is to be a key resource for providing expertise, connections, and innovative solutions to help Georgia’s logistics industry grow, prosper and compete globally.  That mission entails extensive interaction with local industry, the GDEcD, the University System of Georgia (USG), the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), other Georgia state departments, local logistics organizations and local community leaders.

The Sr. Industry Engagement Manager will provide advice and counsel on logistics matters, coordinate industry connections, function as the interface between project owners and resources for a wide range of initiatives and project types, and provide project management services for public and private sector stakeholders. Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

·         Develop and implement proactive strategies to build key relationships with private industry involved in logistics to understand their needs and challenges as it relates to the industry. Help connect companies/organizations with the appropriate contacts in order to assist in their growth and development.

·         Connect with industry resources and partners to enhance, promote and build resources.

·         Lead the logistical analysis of GDEcD projects by researching and capturing data necessary to create freight and pricing analysis and assembling data into easily understandable formats.

·         Project lead/key liaison with event planner for the Georgia Logistics Summit, the state’s only summit geared toward all parts of the industry, from planning and procurement to execution.

·         Represent the COI-L in the community through public speaking engagements and organizational meetings.

 

Duties and Responsibilities, continued:

·         Co-research and compile data points for the monthly Logistics Market Snapshot, a monthly email publication sent to the logistics industry

·         Serve as project lead for Industry Advisory Board Talent Pillar initiatives, including organization of Supply Chain 101 and Future Innovators in Supply Chain Competition.

 

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:

     High school diploma/GED AND six (6) years of freight logistics related professional level experience.

     Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively

     Strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook calendars, and other MS Office programs

     Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders

     Strong organizational and project management skills

     Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

     Bachelor’s degree specializing in Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, or Marketing with a concentration in Logistics, or a closely related field

     One or more of the following certifications: Certified Supply Chain Professional; Certified Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution; Certified Planning and Inventory Management; Certified in Transformation in Supply Chain; or other relevant industry credential.

     Demonstrated success with ongoing customer relationship management, including proficiency with Customer Relationship Management software

*To be considered for a salary offer above the entry level (if a range is posted), the successful candidate MUST have most of the education and experience qualifications shown as preferred. To receive an offer at the top of the range posted, experience must exceed preferred level. Offers will not exceed the top amount posted.
