This position does not include Metro Atlanta, DeKalb County or Rockdale County areas.

The Georgia Department of Driver Services, Regulatory Compliance Division, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Safety and Compliance Analyst within the Field Operations Unit.


Under limited supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for all facets of the initial and ongoing certification requirements of Driver Safety program owners, providers, program directors, and/or program instructors throughout the State of Georgia; including, but not limited to auditing, inspecting, and monitoring all DDS-certified regulated programs within their area of assignment to ensure compliance with agency Rules and Regulations and state law.


The incumbent will be responsible for responding to management and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner, in accordance with the core values of the Department of Driver Services.

The incumbent will manage, plan, schedule, and conduct all aspects of audits, vehicle inspections, site inspections, instructor monitoring, and other responsibilities as assigned.

The incumbent will be expected to use Excel and/or Access to capture and monitor activity and track data.

The incumbent will be expected to maintain a positive attitude and be receptive to change in a fast-paced environment.

The incumbent will be responsible for researching customer complaints, presenting their findings to management, and making recommendations to management on the most appropriate course of action.

The incumbent will be expected to develop strong partnerships between the Division and its internal and external business partners (including but not limited to DDS CSC’s, other state agencies, and the general public).

The incumbent will be expected to create and deliver effective training presentations and participate in outreach events.

The incumbent will be expected to work some nights and weekends or outside of their assigned area or position as needed.

The incumbent will be expected to travel.

The incumbent will be expected to do some lifting (i.e., files, file boxes, training materials).

The incumbent will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality.

Competencies Needed:
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
• Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure
• Ability to make decisions with limited supervision
• Ability to effectively manage time and work independently
• Ability to interpret federal and state laws, rules and regulations
• Ability to conduct training sessions
• Experience working cooperatively as a team
• Experience troubleshooting/problem solving
• Experience inspecting materials for compliance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Residency within one of the following Georgia counties or bordering counties of south Georgia :
Baker, Brooks, Calhoun, Chattahoochee, Clay, Colquitt, Cook, Crawford, Crisp, Decatur, Dooley, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Harris, Houston, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marion, Miller, Mitchell, Muscogee, Peach, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Seminole, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Terrell, Thomas, Tift, Turner, Upson, Webster, Worth

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Safety & Complnc Spec 1 (RCP010) or position equivalent. 
OR
Associates degree in a related field and one year of related experience interpreting and applying state laws, rules, and regulations to determine whether an applicant meets certain statutory requirements to hold a particular government-regulated credential, certification, or license.

Preferred Qualifications:  Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
Five (5) years of professional experience in a position whose primary responsibility was to conduct onsite audits of regulated programs within a specified geographic area and interpret and apply agency rules, regulations, and state laws to ensure compliance.
Current or past position as a DDS Customer Service Center manager

Conditions of Employment:
In-state travel is required for employees in this job. Week-long, overnight travel is also required. Selected candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel statewide. This position may also involve bending,  lifting, and fueling vehicles, performing outdoor activities, working in inclement weather, working holidays, and working around moving vehicles. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required and must be maintained while 
employed in this position. DDS employees, in the event of an identified emergency, may be required, as a term and condition of employment, to assist in meeting the emergency responsibilities of the Department. In addition, in an emergency situation, they may be required to perform responsibilities that are not regularly assigned to them in order to continue the operations of the agency.
