INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY in Human Resources Administration (DOAS)

Organization Description

The Georgia Department of Administrative Services, Human Resources Administration (DOAS HRA) has established the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Unit to address statewide challenges in hiring and retention. The Recruiting & Retention unit assists with the improvement of the state’s workforce through 3 areas of focus: marketing and awareness, talent pipelines, and retention strategies/employee experience.

Job Description

The R&R unit is seeking dynamic self-starters for the HR internship. The HR Intern(s) will assist the R&R unit with various recruitment efforts by identifying and attending events and initiatives for colleges, high schools, and other secondary education entities. If you are looking to gain valuable experience within  Recruitment/Talent Acquisition to include recruitment logistics, employer branding, and employee engagement initiatives, then this internship is an excellent opportunity for you to gain valuable experience.

DOAS is a hybrid work environment, and telework is encouraged, with some days in the office required.

Completion of a pre-employment background check is required.

Required skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments at once and prioritize workload.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to gather, organize, and report data.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Help organize WSI Workgroup information, data, and documents. 
  • Participate in and attend recruitment events at collegiate levels and possibly high school/middle school career events across the State of GA.
  • Create flyers and other marketing materials to promote internships and other career-related opportunities.
  • Assist with administrative/office tasks within the R&R unit.
  • Assist with the implementation of social media campaigns for targeted jobs.
  • Assist with all recruiting and retention responsibilities as assigned.

Paid Internship: $15 an hour

Placements: Up to 2 placements

Commitment: The internship is available from February 2, 2026, through April 30, 2026.

No more than 29 hours per week, 10-12 weeks total for a program or possibly longer, flexible workdays around the class schedule.  

This position may require some travel.

Entry Qualifications

Student enrolled in a Georgia high school, technical college, or university/college. Must be currently enrolled during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

Undergraduate or graduate student with a major in Human Resources, Business or a related field.

Position Location

200 Piedmont Avenue in the Sloppy Floyd Building, 18th floor; near the Georgia State Capitol and on the MARTA rail line.
