Job Title:  Recovery Monitor- Atlanta

Pay Grade: K- max starting salary is $50,000.00

Workplace: Hybrid- 3 days per week in office

Travel: 75-80% travel

Job Summary:

The Recovery Monitor (RM) serves as a liaison between consumers, the courts, community agencies, jails, Community Service Boards (CSBs) and state forensic hospitals. The position provides case management, oversight/monitoring, and coordination of services for individuals involved in the criminal justice system, prioritizing individuals in the Medication Over Objection (MOO) program. This may also include those ordered to community competency remediation/restoration services, adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI), or found Incompetent to Stand Trial – Not Restorable (IST-NR) and released on civil commitment or bond with mental health monitoring.

 

This position supports assigned counties and will require travel throughout the state.  The RM serves as a central coordinator between behavioral health providers, law enforcement, courts, corrections, hospitals, and community partners to ensure that services are effectively integrated, evidence-based, and aligned with the agency’s strategic priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with internal and external partners, and delivering reports or presentations to senior leadership, stakeholders, and external agencies.


 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Community Competency Remediation/Restoration Services

·        Identify viable community behavioral health treatment options for courts seeking alternatives to incarceration.

·        Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and providers to ensure continuity of care before and after release.

·        Serve as liaison between courts, community programs, and individuals to facilitate service access.

·        Provide case management for individuals in the Medication Over Objection (MOO) program

·        Coordinate with the State Office and Regional Office to ensure the statewide community tracking system or database restoration tracking system is updated.

·        Facilitate referrals to additional behavioral health programs as needed.

·        Manage statewide database tracking.

·        Assist with timely transfers between levels of care.

·        Compile reports and ensure accurate program data.

2. Oversight of Court-Involved Individuals

·        Provide case management and oversight to individuals in the MOO program

·        Conduct regular contact with individuals to monitor mental health status and progress in community integration.

·        Maintain monthly contact with community agencies to confirm participation and adherence.

·        Document all client and agency contacts in compliance with state standards.

·        Submit monthly progress reports Track and schedule court update and coordinate status reports.

3. Jail Outreach Responsibilities

·        Conduct in-person or collateral status checks on jailed individuals awaiting placement in DBHDD Forensic Facilities.

·        Monitor mental health status and notify appropriate channels of concerns or urgent issues.

·        Assess barriers to successful reentry and determine appropriate level of case management services

·        Coordinate release logistics such as transportation, medication continuity, and support in referrals for treatment programs and community resources.

4. Court and Hospital Engagement

·        Attend court hearings as needed.

·        Participate in hospital recovery team meetings.

·        Assist team members during extended absences.

·        Perform additional duties as assigned.

5. Post-Release Follow-Up

·        Provide follow-up in the community for released individuals to ensure service engagement and medication compliance.

·        Assist with accessing housing, attending appointments, and managing medications.

·        Monitor individual’s progress and adjust services as needed.

·        Perform home and site visits

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience performing work related to the area of assignment or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 2 (HCP091) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require licensure.
