Part-Time POST Certified Armed Security Guard (Facility Security Officer 2)

Georgia Department of Labor is actively hiring candidates for part-time, hourly POST certified Armed Security Guard positions. The hours will be no more than 27.5 hours per week. The position is not eligible for a benefits package.

This position is a highly-visible, public safety position that requires the applicant to be courteous, polite, and informative to agency staff, vendors, and customers.

Under general supervision, guards, patrols, or monitors premises, facilities, and other areas to prevent theft, violence, and infractions of rules. The Security Guard will secure and protect the facility in case of fires, natural disasters, or other hazardous events. This position is located in downtown Atlanta. Position may require up to 10% of travel.

 

Must possess an active P.O.S.T Certificate in good standing as defined by GA POST Council AND must have successfully completed the Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training Program. Copy of certificate or card is required. 

Salary Range: $19.95 - $25.00 per hour

Weekend (12 hours) – Saturday and Sunday

7:00 PM – 7:00 AM 

 

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: 

·       Manages traffic flow and enforces parking regulations

·       Warns person of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force if necessary.

·       Answers alarms and investigates disturbances

·       Inspects assigned area for fire or environmental hazards.

·       Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against and maintain security of premises.

·       Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.

·       Responds to fire, natural disasters, or other hazardous events

·       Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities 

 

Qualifications

                 Must have High School Diploma or GED

                 Must have One (1) year of security (armed) or law enforcement experience

                 Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record

                 Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check

                 Must have reliable transportation

                 Must be able to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings and weekends

                 Must possess and demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

After a contingent offer of employment is made, the following will occur:

·       Drug and Alcohol Test

·       Medical exam

·       Criminal Background check

·       Physical fitness test

 

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate instructional equipment and computers. Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, close, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus. Corrective lenses may be used to meet these requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, preference may be given to applicants who possess and demonstrate previous working experience in a safety monitoring environment, or law enforcement or military experience.
