STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: 

STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: 

Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

·         Under general supervision, serves as a principal field consultant to project engineers, material suppliers, and contractor's representatives for construction related matters in assigned area.

·         Trouble-shoots field construction problems and make recommendations.

·         Approves and adjusts mix designs and monitors quality control programs of suppliers and producers.

·         Evaluate materials and construction procedures for Departmental construction projects.

·         Prepares written reports and correspondence to Branch Chief, Area Engineers and other recommendations to be taken.

·         Assist in training and certifying contractors, suppliers and DOT personnel in sampling, testing, and inspecting construction procedures.

·         Inspect plant facilities and construction equipment for compliance with specifications.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications 

 

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Bachelor's degree in a related field

·         OR Associate's degree in a related field

·         OR One year of experience at position equivalent 

 

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Experience in construction practices, policies, and procedures for material acceptance testing and/or material specification requirements.

·         Possess a valid Georgia Driver's License.

·         Ability to read and interpret specifications, plans, contract documents, construction and testing manuals, and other resources.

·         Ability to compose and prepare specifications, technical reports and general correspondence.

·         Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to production and placement of materials, including percentages and formulas.

·         Knowledge of computers, other technical applications, and testing equipment to analyze and communicate information.

·         Knowledge to acquire new job knowledge and technical skills and participate in sessions designed to teach, train, and develop co-workers in the application of these skills.

·         Ability to communicate and interact with Georgia DOT personnel and external customers in a professional manner.

·         Committed to providing quality customer service.

 

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Possesses a GDOT Field Concrete Certification, and/or ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I

 

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL GDOT JOBS 

The interview is just one part of the overall selection process and is not the only criteria used to make the final selection.  In addition to the interview, the final selection is based on the applicant’s work history and performance (documented in HR and/or Office files), PeopleSoft/employee status (i.e. rehire code), employee performance reviews, personnel file review (HR & Office Files), criminal background check, employment reference checks (including references and commendations from Managers and other relevant documentation) and, for supervisory positions, demonstrated leadership skills based on past and current work history will be considered.   

Good Employment Standing: 

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.  Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion).  In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.  Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors.  Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
