Lanier Technical College - Hall County Campus (www.laniertech.edu) is conducting a search for part-time, non benefits-eligible, FLSA non-exempt position. NOTE: A background check is part of the selection process. POSITION: PART-TIME SECURITY OFFICER – Hall Campus

REPORTS TO: Chief of Police

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of campus buildings, facilities, equipment, and property; as well as helping to ensure the safety of campus personnel, student, and visitors. NOTE:  This position is classified as a Campus Security Authority.

Major Duties:
• Patrols assigned areas on campus either on foot or in a vehicle or golf cart and monitors campus buildings for unauthorized personnel;
• Completes activity reports and maintains files and reports;
• Monitors surveillance cameras;
• Maintains parking permit and student, faculty and staff database;
• Maintains inventory of emergency medical and first aid supplies and equipment, as needed;
• Inspects AED’s throughout campus to ensure are in working order
• Responds to emergency medical situations and administers first aid within the scope of his/her training;
• Responds to intrusion and fire alarms;
• Assists campus police, emergency personnel, and/or college personnel in responding to emergencies and disruptive situations;

• Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
 

NOTE:  This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent and valid Georgia driver’s license are required.

COMPETENCIES:
• Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and regulations relating to campus safety and security, including emergency response plans;
• Knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of security systems, fire alarm panels, and panic alarm systems;
• Effective written and oral communication skills;
• Effective decision making and problem solving skills;
• Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs;
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public;
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
• Ability to work at any LTC campus;
• Ability to work weekends, evening shift;
• Ability to differentiate between colors;
• Ability to learn methods to de-escalate and respond to situations involving staff, students, and visitors;
• Ability to quickly observe situations and make an appropriate response;
• Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time;
• Ability to successfully obtain Security Officer Certificate, if required;
• Ability to successfully train in First Aid and AED use.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies):
• Prior work experience as a Security Officer, especially at night;
• Prior work experience in a post-secondary environment.
