Lanier Technical College; Hall County Campus – Gainesville, GA 30507 is conducting a search for the following full-time, benefit-eligible, FLSA-exempt, salaried position.  NOTE:  A background and reference check are part of the selection process. POSITION:                    ECONOMICS INSTRUCTOR  

                                                                                                    

REPORTS TO:             Dean of General Education

 

SALARY:                       Mid $60’s, depending on education, experience, and qualifications

 

EFFECTIVE:                July 1, 2025

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives; Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Economics courses; Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests; Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the classroom; Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students; Assists with student recruitment and retention as appropriate. Manages administrative responsibilities related to scheduling, developing syllabi and teaching courses. Other duties as assigned by Dean.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in Economics or master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Economics and appropriate semester hours in specific course content from a regionally accredited college or university. Must work well in the classroom and in supervising diverse students in a variety of settings.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·       Ability to work flexible hours – including day and evening hours

·       Ability to teach at any College campus where Economic classes are taught

·       Ability to participate in appropriate staff development and campus activities

·       Ability to supervise students in the classroom

·       Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans, and select appropriate textbooks

·       Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies

·       Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for accreditation agencies, and the College.

·       Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fair and unbiased manner, and to maintain a pleasant, professional relationship with students and faculty/staff

·       Skill in the operation of work-related computers

·       Appropriate oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate information to students who might function at the new, beginning, or advanced level

·       Ability to maintain accurate and organized records, and prepare lesson materials

·       Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·       Effective decision making and problem-solving skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum and competencies):

Experience teaching in a postsecondary environment; Experience teaching via online instruction; Bilingual is a plus.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
