FWS - Financial Aid
This job is a Federal Work Study, non-benefited position in the Student Affairs Division that reports to the Assistant Director or Financial Aid Coordinator of Financial Aid. Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program by the Department of Education. This program provides part-time jobs for undergraduate students with significant financial need and is administered by the FWS Coordinator, and the Office of Financial Aid, in accordance with the law, federal regulations, and instructions from the United States Department of Education.
Salary: $13.50 per hour.
Hours: Days and Hours are flexible up to 19.5 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be eligible for funds through the Federal Work Study Program for the current semester at Gwinnett Technical College and be in good academic standing.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, prefer candidate who is a quick learner; comfortable asking questions; can provide prompt and friendly customer service; ability to problem solve; comfortable working at a desk and computer; flexible work schedule. Six months to one year of customer service experience via in person, over the phone, email, or chatting feature.
Technical Competencies:
Ability to use a variety of computer programs; email and answer phones; ability to use proper judgment in selecting which issues to handle or re-direct; ability to identify customer issues and provide satisfactory resolution; understand importance of being discreet and can properly handle confidential information; ability to work with a scanner, fax machine and multi-line phone.
Job Description Summary:
Under close supervision, provides clerical support and office assistance to Department of Financial Aid. At the direction of the supervisor, provides information and assistance to internal and external customers. Primary responsibilities will include scanning/filing, responding to office emails and answering office phones. Other duties may be assigned as needed or based upon skills.
