The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a skilled a Maintenance Engineer. This position is in Atlanta, GA, at the GDOL main office.
Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Facilities Maintenance Engineer assists and plans, implements and monitors facility maintenance programs to include construction and repair.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
· Inspecting buildings and facilities to identify any issues related to structural, electrical, plumbing, or other systems
· Creating and implementing preventive maintenance procedures for maintaining building infrastructure and equipment
· Monitoring systems performance and functionality, making recommendations for improvements or upgrades
· Diagnoses and corrects mechanical and structural problems, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs
· Ensures all maintenance conforms to quality standards and designated timeliness
· Handles hazardous materials according to laws and regulations
· Documenting procedures, incidents, maintenance activities and keeping an inventory of all building components and equipment
· Addressing emergency issues promptly and coordinating swift responses
· Performs basic and skilled painting, carpentry, and roofing tasks
· Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines operate smoothly, efficiently and physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
· Reads, utilizes blueprints, plans, drawings and sketches to determine the work to be performed and resources required
· Renovates or builds additions to existing facilities
· Wears safety equipment and observes all safety practices and regulations
· Travel may be required up to 25% of the time
Incumbent must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Required Competencies
· Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Three (3) years of experience in maintenance, renovation, and construction required
