The Construction and Facilities Management Office’s Environmental Directorate (CFM-E) provides regulatory guidance and support to Georgia Army National Guard (GaARNG) sites relative to mission actions and activities. The GAARNG commitments to environmental protection and sustainability are key drivers for the CFM-E Directorate to include systematic compliance briefings to the CFMO, the Commanding General and the Major Subordinate Commands and to develop strategies to enhance knowledge and understanding of site responsibilities for compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops site visit/assessment schedule for facilities in regional area of responsibility;I
- dentifies present or potential environmental compliance issues during site visit/assessments;
- Communicates issues, regional assessment trends, and individual site process changes to the EPAS Manager, the other RCAs, and the CFMO Environmental team during weekly status meetings;
- Works with facility environmental officers (EOs) to address any issues identified that impact site environmental compliance;
- Provides guidance to site EOs about compliant waste accumulation, required site inspection documentation (as applicable), materials segregation and storage of materials, and regulatory driven practices to ensure compliance and protection of the environment;
- Provides technical support to facilities during RCRA defined hazardous waste pick-up;
- Promptly enters site visit summaries and updates entries regularly in a National Guard Bureau database to record progress of corrective actions for environmental findings of non compliance;
- Ensures inclusion of environmental records of and for GaARNG facilities in regional area of responsibility are maintained;
- Coordinates the GA environmental Management System (GeMS) within area of responsibility;
- Keeps clear and accurate documentation of site visit activities;
- Review and verify reports, correspondence, and other required documentation for accuracy prior to submitting to management or filing for record purposes;
- Produces general computer generated correspondence pertaining to environmental issues, training, and GaARNG facility information as required by supervisory personnel;
- Perform other duties as assigned by CFMO-ENV supervisory personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications possess:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science or similar area of study (Experience can be substituted for education on a year by year basis).
Professional certification in the field of environmental science.
