The Electric Vehicle Technology instructor position in the Automotive Technology in the Division of Industrial Technologies and Professional Services and will report to the Dean.  The instructor will prepare and deliver lectures and/or lab course material; prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; will prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports; will ensure that safety and security requirements are met in the training area; will display a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operate effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible behavior; assist with recruitment retention and job placement efforts.  Will perform other job assignments and duties assigned by Dean. Note: This is a grant-funded position and funding is approved on annual basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom and related laboratory instruction for specified courses.
  • Organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward student learning and course progress.
  • Demonstrate current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas and courses to be taught
  • Accurately and timely, submit required reports to the students and college.
  • Instruct classes in the Electric Vehicle and Automotive Technology curriculum areas when needed utilizing techniques and knowledge of the discipline-facilitating student learning.
  • Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback on lectures and labs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve educational objectives.
  • Strong oral communication skills, professional attitude, desire to help students succeed in their career goals.
  • Strive to enhance instructional and learning performances.
  • Ability to work well with GPTC students, people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • May be required to teach high school students.
  • Attend EV/Automotive consortium groups as required; may require travel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Automotive Mechanics/Engineering, or an Electric Vehicle related field.  Must hold or be willing to obtain and maintain during employment, ASE certifications at the Master Automobile Technician level.  Appropriate degree will reflect the requirements of the College’s accrediting agency.

Three or more years within the last ten of full-time, paid in-field work experience in automotive service, automotive education/training, or a closely related field to Electric Vehicle maintenance and service. 

 

NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s or Masters’ Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Automotive Mechanics/Engineering, or a related field is desirable.

Five or more years, within the last ten of full-time, paid in-field work experience in automotive service, automotive education/training, or a closely related field to Electric Vehicle maintenance and service.  Teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds are also desired.

A comprehensive knowledge of current electric vehicle systems technology, experience with EV diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair.

Knowledge of Blackboard (Learning Management System) is desirable. 

 

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
