Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. Basic Law Enforcement Certification with one-year experience in handling or training working canines in the law enforcement field. One year of experience caring for dogs and training dogs to perform such functions as detecting controlled substances, attacking, or tracking in a correctional, military, law enforcement or other setting in which an applicant would have acquired comparable experience in caring for and training dogs. Completion of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) Certification. (Entry Salary without mandate: $55,326.56 and Entry Salary with mandate: $64,900.95).
Note: Preference will be given to applicants whose full-time experience as a uniformed officer in a correctional setting was obtained with the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Comments: This is a Canine Handler position in the Southwest Region and is based out of Valdosta State Prison in Valdosta, Georgia.
