This job is a part time, non-benefited, FLSA Exempt position in the Technology and Operation Division that reports to the Sergeant at Gwinnett Technical College. This position’s primary location will be the Alpharetta North Fulton Campus. This role involves safety-sensitive responsibilities and requires pre-employment drug testing, finger print and regular background check, psychological evaluations, deception tests, and reference checks as part of the employment condition. In addition, due to high-risk nature, once hired, the position is also subject to random drug and alcohol testing. 

 

Salary:  Commensurate with education and experience not to exceed the budgeted amount of $31.20/hr.

 

Scheduled Hours:  Varied shifts, Monday – Thursday 6:30am – 10:30pm, Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code T1701)
High School or GED. *and* GA P.O.S.T certification is required

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

In addition to the minimum qualifications, Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment. 10 years police law enforcement experience. Campus law enforcement experience.

 

Job Description Summary:

The Campus Police Officer performs a full-range of assigned law enforcement duties to maintain security and

order on a technical college campus.  Qualified applicants that are invited to interview will be asked to complete a TCSG Pre-Employment Questionnaire prior to completing the interview portion of the selection process.   If offered the position, following the delivery of a written conditional offer of employment, the selected candidate must participate in/successfully complete the following post-offer screening activities: criminal history records check, medical examination, drug screening, psychological evaluation, deception test, and a motor vehicle records check. 

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Percentage of Time:

Guards and monitors buildings. Answers alarms and investigates disturbances; Investigates criminal complaints and vehicle and other accidents

Coordinates with State Patrol and adjacent law enforcement jurisdictions; Apprehends criminal suspects and turns over to local jurisdiction for booking or incarceration

Inspects assigned area for fire or environmental hazards

Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against and maintain security of premises

Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates

Ability to patrol assigned areas and identify signs of unlawful entry.

Knowledge of all pertinent federal, state, and local laws regulations

Responds to fires, natural disasters or other hazardous events

Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force if necessary

Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities

Coordinates disaster response or crisis management activities such as opening shelters, special needs programs and evacuation

Inspects equipment and facilities to determine their operational and functional capabilities

Collaborates with others to prepare and analyze damage assessments following emergencies

Escorts or drives motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection
