The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their fulltime Assistant Commissioner for Academic Program Development position in the Office of Technical Education. The Assistant Commissioner will serve as a member of the Executive Staff of TCSG and will be responsible for the planning, development and internal management of Academic Program Development. This position is located at the TCSG System Office, 1800 Century Place, Atlanta, Georgia 30345.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensures the optimal development, planning, evaluation and management of TCSG academic programs to meet the needs of Georgia’s citizens, businesses, and industries in the most cost effective and efficient manner
· Provides proactive leadership in developing academic programs and courses based on emerging needs in the areas of workforce development and instructional delivery
· Manages Commissioner’s priorities; including design and execution of early-stage projects and initiatives
· Manages the day-to-day operations of the assigned unit through a professional staff and directs the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures
· Assist in providing leadership and direction to program staff, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
· Interacts with the State Board of the Technical College System, Presidents of Georgia’s technical colleges, and community, business and educational leaders
· Manages and oversees financial/budget operation of the department
· Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual and department procedures
· Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the program
· Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals upon reviewing of all relevant information
· Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and make adjustments as needed
· Promotes the interests of the Division and TCSG
· Assists with the development of grant applications, budgets, reports, and evaluations, making adjustments to meet objectives
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s degree from a nationally accredited institution and three (3) years of relevant experience in higher education administration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Doctoral degree in leadership or related field from an accredited institution and five (5) years of relevant experience in technical and/or community college administration at the institutional and/system level
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
· Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other job-related software applications
· Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service and stakeholder engagement
