Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Appraiser to join our Sales Ratio Division. In this role, you will conduct thorough reviews and analyses of real estate transactions to ensure fair and equitable property assessments across Georgia counties. Your work will support critical reports used by the Georgia Department of Education, Department of Revenue, and the Georgia State Financing & Investment Commission.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of a manager, you will be assigned specific counties to support through sales reviews and field appraisals.

  • Analyze property sales documentation and validate transaction data.
  • Conduct interviews with county personnel to assess internal controls.
  • Review deeds to determine the legitimacy of property sales.
  • Perform field appraisals for residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural properties.
  • Demonstrate initiative and take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.
  • Organize and prioritize work in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare research, reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation to support sales ratio studies. 

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
  • Solid understanding of real estate markets and property valuation principles.
  • Familiarity with sales validation processes and data quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license.

A state vehicle will be provided for travel. The hiring range is $60,000- $70,000. Salary will be determined by education, certifications, experience, and internal pay equity.

Full-time State of Georgia employees have access to a robust benefits package beginning the first day of the month after employment has begun.

  • Annual Leave – 5 hours per pay period with possible increases based on years of continuous service.
  • Sick Leave – 5 hours per pay period.
  • Holidays – 13 paid holidays per year.
  • Insurance – A variety of insurance options. Some of the available options are health, dental, vision, legal, disability, and healthcare and childcare spending accounts, etc.
  • Deferred Compensation – Tax sheltered plans that offer the opportunity to save for retirement. Fund programs include both 457, 401(k) and Roth plans.
  • Credit Union – Eligibility for Georgia United Credit Union membership.
  • Work Hours – Option of flexible work hours and a hybrid work environment.
  • Eligible State of Georgia employees are eligible for up to 240 hours of paid paternal leave each year.
