AP Accounting Technician II - FMD Marietta
The Georgia Department of Defense is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to serve as an Accounting Technician in the Accounts Payable section of the Financial Management Division. The Accounting Technician will process payments to assigned vendors/programs for supplies, materials, and services received as well as research and make necessary adjustments for payment discrepancies as needed.
Essential Functions: (Typical responsibilities of the Paraprofessional Accountant include)
- Review documents, such as purchase orders, vouchers, invoices, receipts, receivers, and other forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and enter vouchers into TeamWorks financials and submit payment to the vendor.
- Research and resolve invoice, payment or statement discrepancies.
- Review vendor changes and additions to TeamWorks vendor files.
- Maintain multiple excel spreadsheet files for various tasks.
- Perform daily data entry validation to TeamWorks reports.
- Monitor payments for compliance with AP reports, identify and alert effected program managers, inquire on proposed correction, and distribute reports once corrections are noted.
- Ability to multi-task assigned duties with limited supervision.
- Must be adaptable to system and process improvement changes.
- Provide assistance to internal and external customers.
- Monitor and maintain centralized AP email inbox.
- Ability to functionally work within a paperless environment.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
The Accounting Technician may be required to bend or stoop to file or retrieve documents; sit for long periods daily while using the computer; pack files in boxes for archiving which may require lifting boxes as well.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications possess the following:
- State of Georgia experience within the last 4 years.
- 2 years of recent Accounts Payable experience using TeamWorks financials.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically in excel and outlook.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

1. Pass an extensive pre-employment background check, which includes a Georgia criminal history, as well as a post-hire federal background investigation.
