Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in the Economic Development division that reports to the Executive Director of Workforce Development. This position is required to work in a correctional facility to provide instruction to inmates.

Minimum Requirements (Job Code 10317)Welding diploma and two years relevant work experience as well as relevant welding training or certifications.  Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Candidates for this position are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Refusal to take the test or a positive result will lead to separation and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment. Additionally, for any employment offer that includes a required drug test, the test must be completed within 48 hours. Failure to comply will result in the offer being rescinded and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment. 

Preferred Qualifications – An Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in a related field is strongly preferred. Postsecondary teaching experience.

Job Description - Prepares and delivers lecture and/or lab course material. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for general core courses. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts. If offered a position, employees in this department must complete the Hazardous Materials Training annually.

  • Organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward students.
  • Demonstrate current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas to be taught.
  • Accurately and timely submit required reports.

2.       Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.

  • Communicates students’ progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.
  • Accurately records pertinent information in students’ records as required.

3.       Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.

  • Complies and submits reports in a timely manner.
