TRP051- Construction Manager 1 (PG-J)(CM)

JOB SUMMARY:

Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental, and traffic.

 

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:

·        Evaluates basic decisions, advanced computations, documents, records and methods for accuracy, effectiveness and compliance

·        Responsible for highway construction activities in an assigned geographical area of a highway field residency or on multiple moderate to highly complex projects

·        Performs audits on the effectiveness of research programs, the adequacy of right-of-way plans, the support of planning decisions by appropriate data, the reliance of materials testing and reporting procedures, the reliability of surveys and related electrical

·        Monitors contracts for compliance and controls costs; performs inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and industry standards

·        Obtains, quantifies, and reports condition of fleet usage and needs according to practice, standards, and methods

·        Provides operational information and guidance to all employees

·        Provides technical assistance, support, and training to establish working relationships with clients, customers and other representatives

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as the Agency Specific Qualifications

           

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelor's degree in construction management OR bachelor’s degree in a related field and Six months of related experience OR Associate's degree in a related field and One year of experience OR One year at position equivalent.

 

 

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelor's degree in construction management

·        Demonstrated excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with others in a professional and courteous manner.

·        Ability to reason and make sound, well-informed decisions.

·        Ability to apply innovative solutions in solving problems.

·        Ability to research, gather and organize information into a presentable understandable format.

·        Displays high standards of ethical conduct and understands the impact of violating these standards on an organization, self and others.

·        Working level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

·        Committed to providing quality customer service.

 

 

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Demonstrated experience in a transportation or civil engineering related environment.

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.  Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion).  In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.  Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors.  Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
