The Georgia Department of Revenue is hiring for multiple Tax Examiner 1 positions to support its mission of administering state tax laws efficiently and fairly. The role involves reviewing various registration applications for completeness and compliance with federal and state requirements & communicating with internal and external customers on the status of pending applications and registrations via electronic and in-person interactions.
The Tax Examiner 1 plays a vital role in assisting customers in-person, via phone, and email. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Responding to inquiries and addressing customer issues while providing excellent customer service.
• Ensuring returns, payments, and refunds are processed quickly and efficiently.
• Using independent judgment to perform clerical duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED and one year of job-related experience (e.g., Office Clerk, Secretary, Data Entry, Customer Service Window)
Or
- Associate degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
Preferred qualifications include work-related experience using and/or providing instruction for an online registration system, and/or work-related experience receiving and responding to emails
* DOR contingent workers must have completed at least 6 months on the current assignment for consideration.
Salary: $39,728
Location: 2595 Century Pkwy, Atlanta GA 30345. * The office hours for this position are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. A telework option, allowing one in-office day every eight weeks, may be available upon demonstrated proficiency after training. This option is subject to change based on DOR policies and the ability to meet performance expectations.
