Job Summary:

Under the RSAT Manager’s leadership, it is the RSAT counselor’s responsibility to provide counseling services to RSAT youth and complete required documentation. Other responsibilities include participates in Behavioral Health Treatment Team meetings when available and participate in the annual Seven Challenges Fidelity visit once per year. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides group counseling four times per week and completes required documentation

  • Provides individual counseling twice per month and completes required documentation 

  • Provides family counseling once per month and completes required documentation

  • Completes all required documentation per DJJ OBHS SUTS Policies 12.20, 12.25 and DJJ Policy 5.8

  • Completes RSAT Treatment Plans and monthly review of residents on caseload once per month 

  • Attend required Seven Challenges trainings and a once per year Support and Fidelity Visit

  • Assist with random drug screening as needed to include documentation 

  • Complete orientation on all new residents entering the program 

  • Review and respond to resident’s journals weekly 

  • Complete discharge summaries on residents upon completion of program 

  • Completion of GAIN assessment as needed 

  • Assist with graduation ceremony process as needed 

  • Periodically complete self and peer review of files 

  • Assist with Aftercare Follow-up as needed to include documentation 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree in a counseling related field (E.g., Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family, Rehab. Counseling) from an accredited college or university.  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a clinical counseling related field (E.g., Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family, Rehab. Counseling) from an accredited college or university And One to Five experience in the behavioral health field. 

  • Georgia licensure or eligible for licensure in a mental health field.

  • Seven Challenges certified Counselor in a juvenile correction facility or adolescent residential treatment setting.
