Job Summary
The Student Affairs Assistant works under general supervision to provide relevant admission information and works closely with applicants throughout the application process.
Essential Functions
· Sends emails/text messages to students with accurate inserts according to student type · Understands the institution's interpretation of FERPA rules for the release of student information to faculty, parents, students, etc. · Administers placement exam · Audits student files for accuracy |

· Provides administrative assistance to the Enrollment Center and guidance to applicants and students in the areas of admissions policies, procedures, and processes · Communicates with prospective and admitted students via phone, in person, email, and text message to encourage file completion and registration |

· Participates in the Strategic Planning process for the college/department and helps implement the plan |

Competencies
· Proficiency in using Banner, BDM, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Ability to type 30 wpm with 3 or less errors
· Effective Communication, verbal and written, and ability to provide effective guidance and communication both face to face and virtually using teleconferencing or communication platforms.
· Good working knowledge of college admission processing
· Understanding of FERPA restrictions and proper guidance and assistance within compliance of privacy acts and restrictions
· Ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment
Minimum Qualification
· High School graduate or equivalent and six months of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
· Two years of clerical work experience
· One year of work experience in a student affairs environment such as admissions, financial aid or registrar’s office
· Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Ability to type 30 wpm with 3 or less errors
· Experience with using the Banner student database (excluding Banner web), BDM, or other student information systems or scanning software
· Experience working with customers using multiple lines of communication: phone, email, text messages, WebEx, and in person
· Technical Diploma/Associates Degree in Business and Office Technology or related area
· Excellent communication /writing skills
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technologies.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, mainly located on a specific campus. Days and hours of work are typically set and specific and generally established between Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 6:30 pm and Friday, 8 am until 12 pm (for 40 hours max). This position does require occasional weekend work.
Travel
Travel to other campus locations is occasionally required, as needed. Overnight travel is not required except in rare instances of external professional development conferences, travel, or meetings
