Position Summary
The Georgia Commission on Family Violence is seeking a coordinator for the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Project. The coordinator will be responsible for collecting and disseminating information on domestic violence-related deaths in Georgia and providing technical assistance to communities conducting localized reviews. Key duties include overseeing the Remember My Name list, developing and delivering training sessions, and collaborating with team members and external partners. The role requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates with three or more years of direct family violence experience. Strong project management, data analysis, and public speaking skills are essential, along with
extensive knowledge of Georgia's domestic violence laws and advocacy. The coordinator will work collaboratively within a team to produce annual reports on statewide trends, manage project deliverables, and ensure the timely submission of grant reports. Frequent travel throughout the state is required. The position includes the ability to participate in teleworking and flexible work schedule programs.
Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards:
- Efficiently collect and disseminate information regarding family violence-related fatalities inGeorgia. Oversee the annual compilation, verification, and distribution of the Remember My Name list to external partners and stakeholders
- Provide professional and effective technical support to communities, stakeholders, and the public to help them understand and respond to localized family violence fatality review project reports. Offer guidance in conducting local family violence fatality reviews upon request.
- Collaborate with agency team members to design informative training sessions and presentations for external audiences on fatal violence fatality reports and data published by the agency. Work with external partners to co-host training sessions and presentations as needed.
- Provide training and technical assistance to communities conducting localized domestic violence fatality reviews or implementing project recommendations based on local family violence data analysis. Strategically pilot, develop, promote, and implement regional or statewide evidence-based solutions based on fatality review project findings.
- Collaborate with agency team members to develop informative training sessions and presentations for Georgia law enforcement officers on relevant laws, investigation techniques, and special topics derived from fatality review project reports and/or data published by the agency to support GCFV’s Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP). Work with external partners to co-host training sessions and presentations as needed.
- Partner with GCFV’s Family Violence Data and Research Analyst to produce an annual report summarizing statewide trends and analyzing family violence fatalities and related data. Assist in creating supplementary reports necessary for project deliverables or upon request.
- Actively collaborate with and provide technical assistance to communities implementing strategic plans or coordinating community response solutions based on fatality review project reports and findings.
- Develop clear, professional, accessible statistical reports, fact sheets, and resource guides for partners and the public that are consistent with annual project deliverables. Employ reliable research and information-gathering methods to interpret and explain data for report development.
- Manage and coordinate the distribution of the Georgia domestic violence media watch tool and other periodic project informational communication tools.
- Proactively seek and remain informed about current trends and topics in the field.
- Serve as a subject matter expert or organizational resource in assigned project area. Engage with key stakeholders to identify and gather information about domestic violence-related deaths in Georgia.
- Manage progress and completion of grant project deliverables and submit programmatic reports on time.
- Ensure all grant administrative reports and deliverables are produced and submitted professionally and promptly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of family violence work experience in rural and/or urban settings. Direct family violence experience should include work with victims of domestic violence.
- Ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of Georgia’s domestic violence laws, victim advocacy, and above-average knowledge and understanding of domestic violence dynamics, co-occurring issues, and/or policy, etc.
- Experienced and demonstrates high aptitude in the following areas: organizing and project-level management and coordination; strong public speaking and presentation skills; data analysis; training coordination and organization; grant or project-based administration, reporting, and record-keeping management.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of the dynamics of abuse and essential elements of a
coordinated community response to domestic violence.
