The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is administratively attached to GBI. CJCC is legislatively charged with eleven areas of criminal justice coordination. Among those responsibilities is to serve as the statewide clearinghouse for criminal justice information & research. Develop criminal justice legislative & executive policy proposals; & serve in an advisory compacity to the Governor on issues impacting the criminal justice system. CJCC plans & administers tens of millions of dollars in federal criminal justice and victim services grants.

Description:

The Statewide SANE Coordinator is responsible for leading and enhancing Georgia’s forensic nursing response to sexual assault and sex trafficking. This role involves coordinating and supporting existing and emerging SANE programs, developing training initiatives, and fostering collaboration among multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent, victim-centered care across the state. This position requires flexibility for in state and occasional out-of-state travel. The coordinator may also contribute to additional state initiatives as assigned.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Program Development & Support

Coordinate and support new and existing SANE programs throughout Georgia. Promote consistent, professional, and patient-centered medical responses for sexual assault victims. Serve as a statewide resource for forensic nurses and SARTs (Sexual Assault Response Teams).

Stakeholder Engagement

Build infrastructure and relationships with non-profit organizations, healthcare systems, advocacy groups, and state agencies. Serve as a liaison among healthcare, law enforcement, victim advocacy, and criminal justice professionals.

Training & Education

Develop and coordinate continuing education and training opportunities for SANEs and other SART disciplines. Provide technical assistance and consultation to medical and allied professionals. Present relevant forensic medical information at statewide, local, or national conferences.

Policy & Protocol Development

Assist in developing and maintaining best practices, protocols, and standards for sexual assault medical forensic exams. Support compliance with state mandates and national standards.

Data Management & Reporting

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SANE programs statewide. Collect and analyze data to inform program improvements and support evidence-based practices.

Statewide Leadership

Represent Georgia at local, state, and national meetings or conferences related to sexual assault response. Lead additional state initiatives related to forensic nursing, sexual assault prevention, or trauma-informed care, as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications (SANE-A and SANE-P) in Forensic Nursing. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Experience working within multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in virtual platforms and data tracking systems. Ability to promote and emphasize a collaborative, multidisciplinary response.

Must be flexible and available for frequent in-state travel and occasional national travel. Able to manage competing priorities and work independently in a dynamic, evolving environment.

An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over- year basis.

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of nursing experience and current Georgia Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or three (3) years of experience at the lower-level PH Nursing Prog Consultant 2 (HCP211) or position equivalent and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certified.
