Science Lab Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
The Science Lab Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty members to assist students within the Natural Sciences labs.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Assists lab instructor in helping students identify structures on handouts and models, use the microscope, adhere to safety procedures, and review for exams;
- Additional lab duties will include photocopying lab materials, light cleaning, organization, and maintenance of program-specific equipment;
- Demonstrates professionalism in contact with students, coworkers and the public.
- Maintains and disseminates necessary supplies;
- Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES
- Oral and written communication skills
- Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to assist students individually or in groups
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of an Anatomy and Physiology course within the last 3 years *or* previous Anatomy and Physiology teaching experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to the minimum qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

- Hourly
- Salary commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience
