What will you do?
As a Revenue Agent 1, you will diligently work to determine tax liability or collect taxes from individuals or business firms, according to prescribed laws and regulations.

Which qualifications are required?
High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of job related experience (collections, bookkeeping, accounting, finance)
OR
One (1) year of experience at the lower level Revenue Agent Trainee (FIT059) or equivalent position.
Core Duties
- Assists with Investigating individuals, partnerships, and/or corporations using computer inquiry, visual review of records, telephone interviews, correspondence and/or personal contact with customer
- Ensure compliance with registration, reporting and payment requirement of the Department of Revenue
- Assist delinquent tax debtors to become voluntarily compliant with their state tax obligations by using various complex processes and functions involving installment payment agreements, offer in compromise, enforced collection actions, and the issuance/recording of tax liens.
- Identifies liabilities and ensures accurate collection
- Prepares assessment based on taxpayer records
- Communicates with customers, tax professionals, local tax officials, state representatives, attorneys, and co-workers in an effective manner via telephone, electronic media, or in person
- Works with DOR’s Office of Special Investigations to identify possible criminal activity.

- The ability to interpret tax laws, policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to tax collection

The Preferred – Candidates possessing one or a combination of the following criteria will receive primary consideration:
- Collections Experience
- Team Communication Tools (MS Teams, Skype, Zoom)
- Experience with Microsoft Office
*Priority consideration for an interview may be given applicants with a strong background in collections, related educational classes or degree in Accounting, Math, Business, or Tax law, and experience in collections in person and by phone.
This is a hybrid position. The Revenue Agent 1 position operates out of the assigned office and have the ability to telework; however, a valid Georgia driver's license is required, as this position may be required to travel at least 25% of the time. The Georgia Department of Revenue also conducts an MVR Check, a criminal background check and State of Georgia tax records check is conducted on all new hires. You are required to have filed a State of Georgia tax return for the past five years.
