The Residential Care Provider (RCP) provides supportive services, safety monitoring, and documentation assistance for residents participating in the Substance Abuse Residential Program. This role ensures that overnight operations run smoothly by maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment while assisting the Case Management team with basic tasks that support client progress and program compliance.
Under broad supervision, the Residential Care Provider (RCP) assists with daily living activities in a residential facility. Observes and monitors clients’ behavior and charts observations and incidents. Provides training of basic personal and social skills, simple academics, or work skills to consumers/students in a residence, group home, workshop, or supported employment environment. May assist with meal preparation, ensuring or encouraging client group activity, providing transportation, and/or limited case management.
Duties & Responsibilities: - Determines the individuals’ strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences by observing daily activities and reviewing records.
- Assists individuals in basic problem-solving and daily decision-making using the least intrusive methods appropriate for each.
- Provides training and oversight in daily living skills and personal care, such as dressing, hygiene, housekeeping, cooking, laundry, money management, and socialization skills using techniques appropriate for their abilities.
- Maintains the residence in a clean and organized condition.
- Plans, prepares, and serves balanced meals.
- Transports individuals to work, day programs, doctor appointments, shopping, recreational and other activities.
- Supervises the self-administration of individuals’ medications using agency protocols. Maintains required records.
- Complete all home and vehicle records, logs, notes, assessments, reports, and other documentation according to protocols.
- Transports individuals to work, day programs, doctor appointments, shopping, recreational and other activities as needed.
- Documents individuals’ progress toward goals and objectives identified in their treatment and/or behavior plans through activity/progress notes, data-tracking sheets, and/or other prescribed skill builder formats as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Safety & Facility Responsibilities - Complete regular rounds, safety checks, and building walkthroughs throughout the night.
- Monitor cameras (if applicable) and respond to unusual activities promptly.
- Follow program emergency procedures and report incidents immediately.
- Ensure common areas are clean, organized, and client-ready for the morning.
- Assist with medication storage/lockbox procedures as allowed by policy (no dispensing).
Case Management Assistance - Assist case managers with collecting, organizing, and filing client documentation (intake forms, progress notes, attendance sheets, etc.).
- Support residents in completing simple forms or preparing information needed for their case manager.
- Communicate any overnight concerns, behavioral changes, or incidents to the daytime case management team.
- Update client logs, shift notes, and tracking sheets accurately before end of shift.
