Registered Nurse
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse supports the Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Division, which includes the Developmental Disabilities Crisis Service Program/Home in Greenville, GA. While the position will be based in Newnan, GA (Coweta County), the Registered Nurse will travel to Carroll, Heard, and Meriwether counties to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Direct care, consultative, and oversight responsibilities for the Registered Nurse include but are not limited to the following:
· Participate in the implementation and delivery of the care outlined in the Individual Service Plan (
· Participate in the establishment of a Written Plan of Care for each individual served to define and record the required health maintenance activities for each individual
· For services defined as high intensity, participate in the creation and implementation of the individual’s behavior support plan, crisis plan, and/or medical/behavioral plan
· Serve as an advisor and instructor for all direct care employees working in the I/DD division to facilitate for quality, person-centered care as defined in the individual’s Written Plan of Care. This includes initial training for new employees (direct care providers) and annual training thereafter
· Monitor and audit the Medication Administration Records (
· Work with the I/DD leadership team to monitor the delivery of services and ensure the care and treatment align with the goals and objectives of each person’s Individual Service Plan (
· Monitor and assess the quality of care and treatment provided by each direct care employee by auditing and reviewing activity notes as well as interviewing and assessing the progress of each person served against his/her Individual Service Plan (
· Provides oversight to the nursing staff in the I/DD Crisis Support Home that includes, but is not limited to, training, documentation reviews (including MARs, medication logs and med administration procedures), provides feedback and directs corrective actions related to nursing services as needed.
· Disposes of expired and discontinued medications as needed
· Is available for nursing consultation regarding I/DD Crisis Services interventions, assessments and ongoing care of consumers served within the I/DD Crisis Program.
· Participate in I/DD program audits conducted by governing entities
· Travel will be required 50% to 75% on a weekly basis to each county/location providing I/DD Day, Residential Services, and Crisis Services
· Participate in required training to assess and document on assigned clients utilizing the Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST)
Training responsibilities for the Registered Nurse include but are not limited to the following:
· Facilitates a portion of new employee on-boarding training once a month to cover topics such as infectious disease; medication storage and handling; medication self-administration; seizures and epilepsy; home healthcare; and safety
· Facilitates proxy-caregiver training and certification to employees as needed/requested
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a registered nurse who is authorized by a license to practice nursing as a registered professional nurse, who holds an associate or diploma degree in nursing,
