The Georgia Department of Public Health, State Office of Vital Records (SOVR) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Manager of Records Management and Support. This crucial role, in collaboration with SOVR leadership, will be responsible for providing both operational and managerial oversight, direction, and support to SOVR-Records Management and Support units & personnel responsible for processing, producing, and amending Georgia vital records & statistics. 
 

  • Leads a diverse range of support, operational, and programmatic activities for a department, agency or facility. 
  • Recommends and implements policies and procedures. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff. 
  • Will manage large numbers of agency staff or have large scope of responsibility within agency. Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges employees. 
  • Manages human resources and directs administrative activities. 
  • Conducts or participates in the development, review, revision, interpretation, and/or implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. 
  • Coordinates compliance with rules, regulations, and policies. 
  • Coordinates interaction between department, agency, and facility operating units, other programs and/or external customers as appropriate.
  • Ensures efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy of all functions through the use of computer systems, management controls, and sound organizational structure. 
  • Oversees the development and on-going management of one or more programs or projects consistent with agency goals and objectives.
  • Participates in the planning, coordination, development and implementation of long-range goals and objectives. 
  • Plans, administers, and controls the budget

Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or seven (7) years of related professional experience which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr, Business Ops (GSM010) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
