Job Summary:

Under supervision, develops and instructs multiple courses of staff development and training established for enforcement/prevention. Provides specialized training in assigned fields.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Acts as lead worker for other public safety training staff.
  • Administers and scores tests and quizzes.
  • Develops instructional material and teaching aids; updates training materials to reflect current developments.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment regularly to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains accurate training records; provides certificates.
  • Makes recommendations for improvement of courses.
  • Plans, coordinates and schedules multiple training courses or programs.
  • Rates trainees during field exercises, enforces safety protocols.
  • Trains students in critical public safety skills or specialties by demonstrating skills and techniques correctly.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED, and one (1) year of work experience in law enforcement, corrections, firefighting, EMS, or rescue service, one (1) year of which is involved in providing training applicable to the area of assignment as an adjunct instructor or as a field training officer on special assignment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain Georgia P.O.S.T. General Instructor certification under applicable profession and any required Georgia P.O.S.T. specialty instructor certifications.
