JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, investigates, counsels and provides continuous supervision for juvenile probationers to assist in their social and personal adjustment. Manages an assigned caseload.

 

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

·       Performs arrests of parolees who have violated the terms of their release, in accordance with statutory requirements.

·       Writes reports detailing clients' progress and other reports/paperwork as necessary accurately completing them within established time frame.

·       Testifies in court concerning matters pertaining to clients such as sentencing, trials, pleas and violations of probation or parole conditions.

·       Provides offenders with assistance in matters concerning detainees, sentences in other jurisdictions, and writs.

·       Monitors and conducts surveillance of probationers/parolees.

·       Investigates background histories of probationers or parolees; review court files, police reports and other pertinent reports to gather information.

·       Investigates activities of probationers or parolees to ascertain their level of readjustment to society.

·       Informs offenders or inmates of requirements of conditional release, such as office visits, restitution payments, or educational and employment stipulations.

·       Develops liaisons and networks in order to make plans for helping offenders with life adjustments.

·       Counsels probationers or parolees via office visits, employment visits, telephone inquiries, community contacts and correspondence

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Probation Officer 1 (PSP010) or position equivalent.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Field Training Officer Certification

·       One year of supervisory experience or serving as a lead worker which may include budget planning policy and training development and/or special operations projects.
