The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the right place for you and is seeking a Policy Coordinator to join our Office of Policy Management.
Under the guidance of the Policy Director, the primary responsibility of the Policy Coordinator is to manage and coordinate the development and maintenance of new and existing DBHDD policies.
The Policy Coordinator will:
• Coordinate the policy review process and facilitate workgroup discussions and ideas to improve policy.
• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail in proof reading and the development of supporting documentation.
• Focus on good grammar, readability, clarity of meaning, and document presentation throughout each step of the process.
• Understand and be able to communicate the rationale for proposed edits made by subject matter experts.
• Supervise tasks assigned to the team’s Policy Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
We welcome candidates from the private or public sector and those who may emerge from nonprofit, foundation, or industry backgrounds. Qualified candidates will possess:
• An advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
· Intermediate-level proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe Pro, and Visio.
· Intermediate-level experience coordinating and managing virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Zoom.
· Proficient keyboarding skills, including the ability to touch-type at conversational speed.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
· Education: A graduate degree in public administration, health-care administration, or another human-services related field.
· Communication and Organization: Experience communicating effectively, managing policy review meetings, developing meeting minutes, preparing documentation, and following up with Subject Matter Experts.
· Subject Matter Expert Support: Experience building productive relationships with a variety of subject matter experts, bringing the group to consensus, clarifying and summarizing the ideas and skillfully converting them into formal policy language.
· Attention to Detail: Ability to attend to detail at every level of the policy development process, including spelling, grammar, meeting management, action point identification, minute-taking, and progress tracking.
· Project Management: Organizational skills conducive to planning and completing tasks on schedule and maintaining momentum on multiple assignments.
· Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify the impact of proposed policy ideas as it relates to the whole process or closely related services or functions within DBHDD enterprise.
· Communication: Ability to communicate persuasively and concisely, orally, and in writing, with a broad range of professionals, and develop and maintain collaborative and supportive team relationships.
· Independent Worker: Ability to work independently, set and achieve realistic goals, and solve problems.
· Adaptability: Ability to engage in different topics, meet collaborators at their level, and respond to changing priorities.
· Writing: Skill in drafting and editing policies and presenting that work.

This is a full-time position based out of our Central Office located in Atlanta, Georgia. This position is hybrid and does not require residency in Atlanta; however, candidates must be able to travel regularly within the state of Georgia and to Central Office as needed.
