Pharmacy Tech - Augusta

Work hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

• Under general supervision, prepares medications under the direction of a pharmacist. 
• May measure, mix, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications. Adds measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous solutions under sterile conditions to prepare intravenous (IV) packs under pharmacist supervision. 
• Answers telephone, responding to questions or requests. 
• Assists customers by answering simple questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information. Computes charges for medication and equipment dispensed to hospital clients. 
• Enters medical and demographic data into a computer and assists in production and preparation of reports (including billing information). 
• Fills bottles with prescribed medications and types and affixes labels. Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions. 
• Prices and files prescriptions that have been filled. 
• Receives written prescription or refills requests and verifies that information is complete and accurate. 
• Supplies and monitors robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers, and labels the containers. Transfers medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile, disposable syringes, using aseptic techniques
