At McIntosh Trail Community Service Board, we offer individuals experiencing symptoms associated with mental illness, addictive disease and/or developmental disability the hope for optimal functioning and recovery by providing quality behavioral health services and supports.
Summary
Under general supervision, in a daytime non-residential facility the PS Instructor observes and monitors client’s behavior and charts observations and incidents. PS Instructor also charts progress toward clients’ identified goals in their treatment plan. Provides training of basic personal and social skills in group settings at the counseling center and in the community. May assist with ensuring or encouraging client group activity and providing transportation to group outings.
Responsibilities
Provides support to clients and Certified Peer Support Specialist to assist clients with developing coping skills and psychoeducation by using validation, acknowledgement, respect, structure, and encouragement.
· Assist morning peer each day to begin peer groups.
· Create calendars for group topics and assign leaders for group sessions.
· Schedule at least two outings each month to allow clients to demonstrate budgeting and social skills
· Ensure each peer is authorized for group services each week and if they are not, notify the office manager immediately upon discovery.
· Complete group notes in a timely manner and send to CPSS for signature. Ensure that notes have pertinent information related to client functioning and progress toward stated goals in their treatment plan.
· Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR high school diploma/GED AND two years of experience in social services relation position OR one year of experience providing social or direct care services to groups of special needs individuals in a human service setting. Note: Some positions require a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25/50 lbs.
Physical Demands may include: sitting, standing and/or walking, pushing/pulling, handling, reaching, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, squatting, climbing (ladders or stairs), overhead reaching.
