Part-Time Training Center Coord. for American Heart Assoc.
This 24-hour a week part-time position is responsible for assuring that Savannah Technical College (STC) meets all the criteria as a Training Center (TC) as established by the American Heart Association (AHA) for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) training courses. The AHA Training Coordinator is a member of the Health Sciences division staff as well as a Coordinator for the AHA program. This position participates in coordinating teaching activities with faculty and staff within the College. This includes the development of course schedules and instructor training courses, providing course materials, monitoring program initiatives, course, and program evaluation, and providing instructor feedback. This position reports to the Department Head for Paramedicine.
This part-time position may be asked to work occasional non-traditional hours including nights and weekends and must be able to travel to all campus locations.
Typical Duties
· Administer the courses that the TC, their aligned instructors, and Training Sites (TSs) provide;
· Management of the TC, TSs, and instructors;
· Provide aligned instructors and TSs with consistent and timely communication of any new or updated information about National, Regional, or TC policies, procedures, course content, or course administration;
· Provide information, support, and quality control for all AHA ECC Instructors aligned with the TC;
· Schedule, coordinate, and teach regularly scheduled BLS certification, recertification, and skills checks;
· Maintain records and ensure compliance with AHA requirements;
· Secure and distribute of course completion cards and exams to instructors and TS;
· Maintain STC’s AHA Training Center status as an American Heart Association Training Center for BLS levels of AHA certification and the other advanced certification AHA paperwork;
· Schedule, coordinate, design, and implement AHA courses offered by STC’s AHA Training Center.
· Maintain appropriate records as required to be a training center with the AHA, including records of all AHA instructors affiliated with STC’s AHA Training Center by using the AHA instructor network;
· Provide updates to the training network with current information on AHA courses, science guidelines, policies, and procedures;
· Maintain adequate course equipment and supplies;
· Conduct quality assurance & improvement assessments;
· Ensure instructors are monitored yearly by a Training Center Faculty;
· Submits all training reports and AHA requests by the stated deadline;
· Complete TC administrative Self-Review once a year to evaluate overall status;
· Compile attendance and course data reports for STC’s AHA Training Center annual report;
· Complete and submit application to STC’s AHA Training Center for EMT and Paramedic credits for the PALS courses;
· Complete and submit post program data to Georgia Department of Public Health for paramedics and EMT’s that attend PALS Courses;
· Maintain AHA instructor files to make sure provider and teaching cards are current;
· Issue instructor cards once verified that AHA instructor requirements have been met;
· Manage instructor alignment on Atlas;
· Ensure STC’s AHA Training Center is compliant with AHA and STC policies and procedures;
· Coordinates and participates in the Training Center’s (TC) site reviews.
· Maintain a networking relationship with other TC’s;
· Manage instructors, training sites, and course rosters;
· Submit the proper pay documentation to designated personnel and payments to cashier’s office at STC;
· Complete and forward the TC Activity Report directly to the Department Head for Paramedicine monthly;
· Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual;
· Follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia and other policies and procedures established by the Savannah Technical College;
· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of work-related experience
- Must have two years’ experience as a Basic Life Support instructor;
- Possess strong organizational skills, teaching ability, interpersonal and interprofessional communication skills;
- Proficiency in working with computer systems;
- Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications;
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
Salary/Benefits
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
