Job Summary
This is hourly, part-time work supporting the Department of Juvenile Justice’s recruitment efforts. The Recruiter will partner with the Dekalb RYDC facility in Decatur, Georgia, to assess staffing needs, coordinate and attend job fairs, post vacancies, and develop strategies to attract candidates for hard-to-fill positions. This role requires less than 30 hours per week and is not health benefit-eligible.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with facility leadership and HR staff to assess staffing needs, create recruitment plans, and identify innovative sourcing strategies.
- Build and maintain candidate pipelines by networking with community organizations, colleges, military installations, and other outreach programs.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with external partners to support long-term recruitment efforts.
- Review applications to ensure candidates meet minimum qualifications.
- Coordinate and participate in job fairs, career events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Provide consultation to managers on HR policies and recruitment procedures.
- Post job announcements and screen applicants using Team Georgia Careers (Taleo) or comparable applicant tracking systems.
- Stay current on recruiting trends by pursuing professional development, attending training, and maintaining industry networks.
- Research local labor markets and community dynamics to guide recruitment strategies.
- Travel, including some overnight trips, may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of related human resources experience.
- Note: An equivalent combination of education and job-specific experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and competencies required may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess three (3) or more of the following:
- Two (2) or more years of experience recruiting for military or law enforcement positions.
- One (1) or more years of experience recruiting within state, local, or federal government.
- Two (2) or more years of human resources experience.
- Three (3) or more years of professional-level recruiting experience.
- One (1) or more years of experience using Taleo or a comparable applicant tracking system.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships.
- Experience developing recruitment strategies and implementing creative approaches to attract qualified candidates.
