1. Provides physical and/or occupational therapy treatment, including exercises and activities, to patients.
- Consistently provides O.T./P.T. treatment as described in training program and as instructed by supervising therapist.
- Correctly provides assistance to clients who are on alternate or special positioning programs.
- Correctly uses equipment and positioning devices.
- Seeks clarification from supervising therapist when questions arise about a patient/client, program, and/or program’s implementation.
- Chooses and plans routine activities consistent with procedures specified in the program.
- Assists therapist in focusing patients on tasks, in resolving patients’ behavioral problems, and providing individual attention.
2. Maintains physical therapy/occupational therapy workspace, supplies, and equipment. (Performed by all incumbents)
- Monitors on a regular basis assigned workspace for proper organization, inventory, and equipment.
- Reports problems and/or misuses of work area, equipment, and supplies to appropriate person.
- Notifies appropriate person of needed supplies.
- Straightens area periodically for proper placement of equipment and clean appearance.
3. Documents physical therapy/occupational therapy procedures and work activities. (Performed by all incumbents)
- Documents observed responses of assigned patients/clients as directed by supervising therapist.
- Completes client training attendance sheets on a regular basis.
- Completes required reports of client/patient activities in a timely manner.
4. Works as a team member to assure patient’s/client’s needs are met. (Performed by all incumbents)
- Consistently works with unit personnel and interdisciplinary team to keep them informed of therapy program goals.
- Maintains confidentiality and respects privacy/dignity of others.
5. Schedules treatment area, assists with transportation, and ensures needed supplies are available. (Performed by all incumbents)
- Routinely sets up designated work areas before scheduled sessions.
- Picks up patients needing transportation to therapy in a timely manner.
- Receives patients/clients in a timely manner.
- Notifies patient areas of cancellations or schedule changes.
6. Constructs some adaptive equipment and monitors adaptive equipment. (Performed by some incumbents)
- Assists therapist in constructing splints as needed.
- Follows direction in constructing, repairing, or modifying adaptive/functional equipment.
- Uses appropriate tools.
- Notifies appropriate individual of problems regarding adaptive equipment.
