OMAT-Tennille -TRP050 Transportation Specialist 1 (PG-K) Testing Management Field Supervisor
STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, materials, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Under limited supervision, supervise and direct the sampling and testing of materials in the assigned district.
· Ensure that all testing and sampling needs are met by field technicians on assigned projects.
· Maintain high level of knowledge in field sampling and testing procedures.
· Review all field reports submitted and verify accuracy and completion before distribution.
· Train and evaluate technicians on testing and sampling of roadway materials.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in a related field or
· Associate's degree in a related field or
· One (1) year of experience at position equivalent
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience as a lead worker or supervisor directing, evaluating work, training,
developing and/or coaching subordinates.
· Must possess RTT and QCT-Level 1 certification.
· Knowledge of sampling and testing of both roadway and asphalt plant construction materials.
· Experience using computers, computer applications and/or other technology to analyze and
communicate field testing information.
· Experience performing mathematical calculations related to field testing, including percentages and formulas.
· Experience and knowledge calibrating and/or operating standard field testing equipment
(e. g., nuclear gauge, electronic scale, vacuum extractor, drill truck).
· Ability to read and comprehend standard testing manuals, project proposals and specifications.
· Ability to read, write and interpret reports, correspondence and manuals.
· Ability to review and evaluate new testing methods, procedures and equipment; to make sound, well-informed decisions.
· Committed to providing quality customer service.
AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Three years of working experience sampling and testing of both roadway and asphalt
plant construction materials.
· Ability to quickly locate and recognize pertinent information while managing subordinates and/or conducting tests and evaluations.
· Ability to improve established methods and/or create new methods when established methods and procedures are inapplicable or unavailable.
· Ability to learn and adapt to new testing equipment and/or procedures.
· Experience utilizing Site Manager and AASHTOware Project

Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
