OMAT – Forest Park - FET033 -GENERAL TRADES TECH Supervisor (PG-H) Building Maintenance Supervisor
STATE PROILE SUMMARY: Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Oversees the repair, maintenance and construction of state buildings and related structures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Oversees building maintenance for multiple facilities throughout the State of Georgia.
· Implement preventive maintenance and safety programs and perform routine inspections to ensure compliance.
· This position primary focus will be assembling, installing and/or repairing wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe system and plumbing, machinery and equipment.
· Coordinating, Facilitating and inspecting the work of vendors performing services
· Supervise, train and assign work assignments to subordinates.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications.
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or GED AND Four years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment, which includes One (1) year in a lead worker, team leader or supervisory role; lead/supervisory role.
· OR Two years of experience at the lower level General Trades Tech 3 (FET032) or position equivalent.
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience as a Team Lead, managing/supervising a team of subordinates.
· Experience managing work activities without direct supervision, working independently, and being self-motivated.
· Knowledge of the methods of building construction, maintenance and repair or of the techniques required of a specialty area such as welding, carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
· Experience reading and understanding plans, standards, specifications and building codes
· Experience gathering information needed in selecting, purchasing, and distributing appropriate materials to complete project
· Experience in measuring for calculating appropriate quantities and to perform basic mathematical calculations used in determining materials needed for assigned tasks
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Excel and Word)
· Experience completing required forms and reports and expressing ideas clearly and effectively through oral and written communications
· Experience making well-informed decisions using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions
· Committed to providing quality customer service
AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Completion of a post-secondary vocational/technical school program in a skilled trade (e.g., electrical, carpentry, plumbing) AND Two years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment.
· Certification in HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical.
· Experience supervising other craftsmen.

Good Employment Standing:

Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall e-Performance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
