STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Under general supervision, serves as principal field consultant to the districts for the ride quality of bridges and one-hundred-foot asphalt approaches. This position is responsible for performing smoothness testing using a lightweight laser profiler or the Rainhart profilograph. Coordinates scheduling with the contractor. Attains smoothness measurements and reviews profiles with contractors and Department personnel to ensure Specifications are met. Prepares specialized reports for contractors, noting deficiencies in smoothness prior to leaving project. Responsible for preforming rechecks to ensure all noted deficiencies have been corrected. Evaluates and maintains all assigned equipment to ensure Department quality standards are met. Modifies, calibrates and upgrades equipment as required to ensure accuracy. Evaluate any new test equipment to ensure specifications are attained. Maintains the Department’s Profilograph Certification program for contractor’s personnel and equipment. Instructs and certifies Concrete Branch personnel on the operation of lightweight profiler and Rainhart profilograph.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in a related field
· Associate's degree in a related field
· One (1) year of experience at position equivalent
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· Working knowledge of and experience in construction practices, policies, and procedures for material acceptance testing and/or material specification requirements.
· Ability to reason and make routine, technically sound decisions using good judgment based on experience and acquired knowledge.
· Ability to visualize common problems in pavements and recommend proper test procedures to evaluate the problem.
· Ability to utilize computers, other technical applications and testing equipment to analyze and communicate information.
· Ability to review and evaluate pertinent information; to work effectively with others to resolve conflicts; to gather, organize and manage resources effectively and efficiently.
· A valid Georgia Driver's License is required.
· Ability to do statewide travel; to possess the ability to drive a SUV or a van or a truck with attached trailer unit.
AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in bridge and pavement testing using a lightweight laser profiler and/or Rainhart profilograph.
· Ability to perform technical services related to pavement testing, pavement evaluation, data analysis and preparation of reports of finding. This includes possession of basic knowledge of construction practices, policies, and procedures for pavement acceptance.

Good Employment Standing:
In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall e-Performance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
