Office of Maintenance -FET033 -Printer Sup (PG-H) "Maintenance Activity Sign Shop Production Manager"-25 Kennedy Dr. Forest Park, GA 30297
STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: Supervises, guides, assist and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Coordinates the workforce, physical plant, inventory and equipment in production activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Under general supervision, directs the ordering, receiving, storing and issuing of signs for the state sign shop.
· Schedules and supervises the work activities of a crew involved in the layout, preparation, production and distribution of directional and informational highway signs.
· Prioritizes and assigns work to employees.
· Collects information for and completes forms and reports.
· Operates a computerized plotter which cuts sheeting to various shapes and texts for sign fabrication. May fabricates silk screens.
· Fabricates signage operating sign printers, a silk screen printing press and machinery that applies or removes sheeting from metal sign blanks.
· Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all machinery associated with the fabrication and production of highway signs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include the Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications.
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of directly job-related experience, which includes one (1) year in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Printer 3 (FET022) or position equivalent.
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to read and comprehend information contained in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Vendors Material Manuals, DOT Specifications, and Sign Request Documents.
· Ability to receive and respond to verbal communications in an appropriate manner.
· Ability to make well-informed decisions use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions, e.g., how to fabricate signs efficiently.
· Ability to monitor the materials used in state sign shop operations.
· Ability to plan, distribute and monitor work assignments, and provide feedback to others on their performance.
· Ability to interact with others to influence, motivate and challenge them.
· Displays a high standard of work ethics and commitment toward work.
· Ability to adapt to changes in priorities procedures and process.

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of the use and operation of all sign shop production machinery and equipment.
· Knowledge of the materials used in fabrication.
· Knowledge of state and federal coding manuals.
· Basic math skills to perform simple calculations or measurements.
· Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine objectives and strategies to achieve them.
· Maintains a positive view of self, displays a professional image and effectively deals with pressure.
· Ability to instruct Department personnel on job related tasks.
· Ability to foster team spirit and to work with others in achieving shared goals and in resolving differences.

Good Employment Standing:
In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
