This position is located in the Georgia Environmental Protection
Division - Watershed Protection Branch - Agricultural Water Withdrawal Program. As the
manager of Business Operations within the Agricultural Water Metering Unit, this position is
responsible for assisting the Agricultural Metering Program Manager with all Agriculture
Metering Unit duties. The position will assist with managing agriculture metering field staff,
overseeing field assessments as well as identifying necessary data entry needed after review
of the site visits. In addition, duties include performing office related duties for agricultural
water withdrawals applications and permits as it relates to agricultural meter installations and
assisting with compliance related meter cases. In addition, this position will be the primary
point of contact for the Meter Approval Form submissions and problems. The position will
have to utilize Arc Pro/GIS to determine meter related data entry site assessments, meter
installations, meter reading data, and wetted acreage data changes. As needed duties may
include assisting with overseeing agriculture water meter installs, repairs and replacements by
coordinating installations and maintenance with contractors as well as placing meter orders.
This position will interact with farmers, property owners, contractors, and other agricultural
stakeholders as well as complete large amounts of data entry work inside the office. This
position requires strong people skills and a good understanding of agricultural water use.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- A graduate degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Geology,
Engineering (Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or
Sanitary) or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge or experience with interpreting and applying state regulations.
- Experience with agricultural water use, metering, and irrigation.
- Demonstrated ability to work with farmers and other stakeholders.
