Purpose of the Position: Leads the accounting and financial operations of a unit, department or agency. Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff. Directly and indirectly supervises professional accounting/payroll staff and technical, clerical and/or secretarial subordinates. Directs the recording, maintenance, reporting, and control of agency revenues and expenditures. Interacts with agency administrators and staff, professional accountants, auditors, vendors, and financial institution officials on accounting and finance related matters. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.
Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to):
· Directs and manages the day-to-day accounting, closing and reporting responsibilities of the financial and treasury accounts
· Reviews and appropriately evaluates financial reports formats developed by staff for conformity with the General-Purpose Financial Statements (GPFS) and Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR) standards
· Ensures budgetary guidelines to meet organizational goals and improve performance
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting finance AND Four years of professional accounting job-related experience which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Mgr, Accounting (FIM010) or position equivalent
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years performing a board spectrum of significant accounting, budgeting, analytical tasks, general ledger closing, financial statement, and budget preparation. Government fund accounting and federal grant experience. Advanced degree in accounting is highly desirable.

Salary Information: $76,218.42 Annually / Pay Grade N
