As a Planning Manager, Emergency Preparedness within the Division of Health Protection, Office of Emergency Preparedness, at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead planning subject matter expert for DPH internal and external partners.
  • Supervise a team of planning professionals.
  • Coordinate emergency planning activities for DPH internal partners relating to the State Emergency Operations Plan and all affiliated annexes/appendices.
  • Interface with DPH Districts to support grant requirements relating to planning activities by developing and maintaining guidance and tools.
  • Work with the Operational Readiness Manager and the Operations Manager to develop DPH specific exercises and trainings to validate emergency plans.
  • Coordinate the development of state-wide multidisciplinary, or functional teams comprised of both state, district, and external partners for planning purposes.
  • Ensure consistent engagement with internal and external partners to support plan development and maintenance.
  • During disaster operations, conduct activities as the Planning Section Chief in the DPH Emergency Operations Center and as a Public Health Liaison at Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security State Operations Center during an activation.
  • Assist the Deputy Director/Director with maintaining the overall statewide planning capability.
  • Assist in other planning and exercise development, as necessary.
Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or seven (7) years of related professional experience which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr, Business Ops (GSM010) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
