Mgr 1, Env. Protection

This position is in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Coastal District Office located in Brunswick, Georgia.  

The District Offices are responsible for conducting inspections, compliance and enforcement actions, and in certain capacities for permitting assigned facilities.  District offices are also responsible for investigating complaints involving land protection, water supply, air quality, water quality and erosion and sedimentation.  The District Offices oversee compliance for facilities such as landfills, wastewater treatment facilities, public water systems, construction sites and other industrial activities. The work performed in the District Offices is very dynamic and often involves coordination with one or more of the three branches of EPD.  There are seven District Offices located throughout the State of Georgia, with each District covering many counties. 

This position is responsible for supervising the activities of Environmental Specialists, reviewing and approving letters, inspection reports and enforcement actions and negotiating settlements of enforcement actions.  The district activities include conducting inspections and compliance activities at assigned facilities as well as complaint investigations. This office supports the rapidly growing Coastal Georgia area.

Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated experience in state and federal government environmental compliance and enforcement programs, including Water Quality Control, Safe Drinking Water, Comprehensive Solid Waste, and Air Quality Control.

 · Experience managing multi-disciplinary regulatory programs

· Demonstrated skills and ability in negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution

· Strong written and verbal communication skills
