This position is located in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) - Watershed Protection Branch. The successful candidate will be the manager of Drinking Water Compliance Program. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure compliance with the Federal and State drinking water regulations. The manager will assure that facilities are performing required sampling, analysis of the samples, reporting of the results, submitting annual consumer confidence report and other required notices. The manager assures that all the required data is entered in to SDWIS on a timely basis. The manager will review enforcement documents prepared by the staff for noncompliance. The manager is expected to have technical expertise of applicable regulations so as to provide guidance to staff and the regulated community. The manager will take the lead on implementation of new drinking water rules and also draft contracts for procurement of third party laboratory services. The manager will work with District staff and sanitary survey team to address citizen complaints regarding drinking water quality and other drinking water related issues. This position involves routine interaction with the US EPA, public, the regulated community, consultants, other governmental officials and EPD District Offices. The manager provides assistance to the emergency support function for the water sector as needed. The manager should be comfortable using computers and standard office equipment, and must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience implementing and/or enforcing State and Federal drinking water rules and regulations.
2. Experience with using SDWIS
3. Operational experience in public drinking water facilities (treatment processes, distribution systems,
laboratory analysis).
4. Management and Leadership role.
