Medical Coding Adjunct Instructor - Pool
Nature of Duties: Under general supervision prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses; prepares standardized course syllabi using a provided template; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives based on established course grading requirements. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; attends professional development training as required for college-specific online course delivery. Teaches medical coding courses that closely simulate the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. Provides instruction in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective areas of medical coding. Measures program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success and submits results to the program director. Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in a Health-related field from an approved accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Medical Coder (CMC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
- Minimum of two (2) of the last five (5) years of work experience in medical billing, coding and insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma or Associate’s degree in medical records administration, medical coding, or medical billing and insurance.
- Teaching experience in a Health Science related field at the postsecondary level.
- Experience teaching with Blackboard LMS.
