Licensed Practical Nurse 3
Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) – Division of State Schools is recruiting for an experienced School-Based Licensed Practical Nurse 3. Under the supervision of the school-level Superintendent, the Licensed Practical Nurse 3 will be assigned to support the Georgia School for the Deaf (GSD) in Cave Spring, Georgia, one of three State operated schools for Deaf and blind students. This position is in a school setting and working with children beginning at age 3. The primary function of this position is to provide general direct nursing care to injured, ill, convalescent or disabled students. The job responsibilities include but not limited to:
Description of Duties
· Provide general direct nursing care to injured, ill, convalescent or disabled students.
· Provide medical treatments, administering medication and giving injections
· Perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
· Serve as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas.
· Administer prescribed medications
· Document on student's records
· Answer students question and determine how to assist them
· Evaluate nursing intervention outcomes conferring with another health-care team member as necessary
· Observe students, report changes in conditions, such as adverse reactions to medications or treatment, and taking any necessary action
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- 2 plus years of experience
- Experience working with deaf and/or hard of hearing students
- Experience working with children
- Experience working in a school setting
- Basic ASL skills
