The Georgia Department of Revenue is excited to invite applications for the position of Legal Secretary 2 or 3 in the Office of the General Counsel.  Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be responsible for supporting the operations of the office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

·         Responding to taxpayer and/or attorney written and telephonic contacts and inquiries in connection with pending matters.

·         Preparing and processing legal documents and correspondence, to include opening, monitoring, and closing case files. 

·         Maintaining assigned calendars by scheduling appointments and meetings.  

·         Assisting with organization and storage of legal documents, to include records lifecycle retention and disposal assessments. 

·         Assisting with basic purchasing needs of the division, including entering purchase orders within established Department processes.

·         Performs other professional and administrative responsibilities as assigned by the General Counsel.

Sample technical competencies may include, but are not limited to:

·         Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing.

·         Attention to detail and organization in connection with case file and document management processes.

·         Demonstrated experience with using software applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro to create documents, forms, and reports.

·         Ability to learn new software and/or technology systems (e.g., Integrated Tax Solution) and follow established workflow processes.

Entry Qualifications:

Legal Secretary 2 (LET021) | Pay Grade H 

High school diploma/GED AND two (2) years of experience in a legal setting using computer software; OR one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Legal Secretary 1 (LET020) or position equivalent.

Legal Secretary 3 (LET022) | Pay Grade I

High school diploma/GED AND three (3) years of experience in a legal setting using computer software; OR one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Legal Secretary 2 (LET021) or position equivalent.

Required Skills & Experience:

·         Customer Service – ability to provide timely and courteous service to the public and support to internal and external stakeholders.

·         Teamwork and Cooperation – ability to work collaboratively with team members.

·         Communication Skills – ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

·         Results Orientation – ability to complete projects with limited supervision.

·         Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility for one's actions with honesty & integrity, while remaining committed to organizational success.

·         Organization – Ability to assess complex processes and create solutions for organizing voluminous documents.

Preferred Criteria:

·         Prior experience with the Department’s Integrated Tax Solution system and/or with state purchasing processes.

·         Ability to independently create solutions for document organization (electronic or paper).

·         Ability to suggest process improvement in legal workflow.

Salary Range:

Up to $55,000.00

 * Individual salary will be commensurate with experience, education, and State Personnel Board Rules.

Location:

DOR Century Parkway Office – 2595 Century Pkwy NE, Atlanta, GA 30345. This is a hybrid position allowing for a telework schedule of up to two days per week after training and proficiency in all assigned areas has been demonstrated.
