POSITION:                WELDING AND JOINING TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR             

                                   

REPORTS TO:         Dean of Applied Technology and Transportation

 

SALARY RANGE:   Low to mid $60’s, depending on education and experience

 

EFFECTIVE:            April 2026

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:        

 

Under general supervision this position performs the following:

·         Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives

·         Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited welding and joining technology courses

·         Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives

·         Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests

·         Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate

·         Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports

·         Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area

·         Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students

·         Assists with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.

·         Works with Dean to coordinate hiring of adjunct instructors

·         Manages administrative responsibilities related to scheduling, developing syllabi and teaching courses.

·         Other work-related duties as assigned by Dean.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Technical diploma in Welding and Joining Technology from a regionally accredited college or university; three (3) years’ work experience in a position related to welding and joining technology. Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and nights, and teach at multiple campuses as needed.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·         Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory

·         Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education

·         Knowledge of academic course standards, and LTC’s academic programs

·         Skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff

·         Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content

·         Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the College.

·         Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

·         Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making and problem-solving skills

·         Ability to teach courses that include the following areas:

o   Introduction to Welding

o   Oxyfuel & Plasma Cutting

o   Blueprint Reading

o   Flat Shielded Metal Arc

o   Horizontal Shielded Metal Arc

o   Vertical Shielded Metal Arc

o   Overhead Shielded Metal Arc

o   Gas Metal Arc

o   Gas Tungsten Arc

o   Pipe Welding

o   Fabrication Process

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum & technical competencies):

·         Associate’s degree in Welding and Joining Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university;

·         Have current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certifications;

·         Teaching experience in a classroom and laboratory setting;

·         Knowledge of robotic training cell with system 5 Fanuc robot;

·         Knowledge of CNC plasma table operation.
